This month I thought it would be nice to encourage those of you who don’t sew, or haven’t sewn in a long time, you want to take it up again or try your hand at something new! Pick up a needle and see what hidden talents you have tucked away waiting to be nurtured!
So you want to be creative and start sewing? Yay!
I started sewing very young and it began with a distinct love for colours and fabrics. My mothers new curtains to be exact. Picture the mid 70’s when artists and designers gave way to boldness, groovy, free flowing imaginative designs. Being an artist herself my mothers new curtains had all this and more. I remember getting into huge trouble after applying a pair of scissors and removing a sizable chunk from the hem upwards!
When we moved back to the UK I was given an assortment of scrap fabrics from which I could create my own designs. I would spend hours cutting and hand stitching clothes for my Cindy doll in order to give her the wardrobe she deserved. It was very relaxing and kept me out of mischief.

Beginners Kit
Let’s Begin With what You’ll Need
When you’re starting out as a beginner sewer you really just need the basics. Some of us do not have the luxury of a crafting space be it small or large so I suggest starting small and as time goes on you can build on your collection as and when you need certain things for each project you undertake.
I have compiled a list of items that should help you get started on your quest.
I am in the process of putting together a starter Sewing Kit ideal as a gift or a treat for one’s self.
