Spring has sprung and the clock continues to tick away! Well we find ourselves half way through April and wondering where on earth the time has gone
The gates of spring are wide open bringing us the promise of summer, warmer days filled with the sounds of industrious individuals going about their daily lives from commuters making their routine journey to and from work, to the home owners making small and large improvements in and around their properties.
The sound of tractors trundling up and down our narrow side roads leaving chunks of mud and a succession of hungry sea gulls in their wake is just a small reminder of the ever changing season and Mother Nature’s handiwork.
Sitting here at my machine it’s difficult not to gaze out at the splendid views across the fields. So I have collected a charming set of cotton prints each showing off the clear zesty yellows and combinations of greens and whites I’ve been working on a child’s patchwork quilt and accessories that I hope provides you with a slice of the bucolic surrounds in our little corner by the sea.
This delightful quilt is patched with clean fresh colours, cheerful yellows, clear fresh greens laced with creamy shades of white. I have used cotton materials throughout the project backing it with powdery white cotton speckled with faint dotes.
After a session of free motion quilting swirly twirly patterns I decided to bind the quilt in small yellow abstract print to give visual texture. This was then bound to the quilt by hand.
Following on from the patchwork quilt I put together two blankets. A super soft, creamy white fleece and a lovely lemon coloured all cotton cellular blanket. I trimmed both with coordinating yellow cotton binding and lovingly finished them by hand.
For those of you looking for neutral gift for a new arrival be sure to check back soon to get a peek at two little bunny’s made to compliment this set of nursery items in a combination of lovely creams and yellows.
Here they are in the making.
