A Warm Welcome Back to Everyone!
This project is about to become another one of many that I have on the go. It is a block of the month quilt called Flowerville and covers a 10 month span. Each month you receive an exciting parcel through the post. Month 1 contains all the fabrics for the quilt top, binding, stitchery threads and a pre-printed linen square and pattern. The first month also includes a template. Once a month for the following 9 months you are sent a new pattern and pre-printed linen square in order to complete the next stage of the boom. If you are anything like me you may find this a nice way to spread your projects out. There is no pressure to complete the quilt all in one go which gives you the freedom to work at your own pace allowing you to work on any other projects that you may have.
If you are interested in where I purchased this particular quilt kit from please send an email or message me for the shop details.
In my spare time I love to take long walks with our Labrador Pepsi, her favourite past time besides basking in the sun and barking at every soul that walks by the house is to swim!
We are but a five minuet drive from the North Sea and on a warm sunny day like today she would have you up and down every spare moment throwing stones and old pieces of drift wood into the water only for her to dash on in swim back to you with her trophy. Her fabulous trick is to soak you as she shakes the sea water from her wet shiny coat! Here are a few shots I took on my phone.
The shoreline is full of shells and the landscape is spectacular. You can see for miles in every direction and not see another person the whole time you are there. When the tide is in the seals come along bobbing up and down popping their heads in and out of the water teasing you with their cheeky grins and the smiling eyes. One of these days I’ll catch a great photo of their lovely little faces.
For those of us who like to take a stroll along this stretch of coastline, have a bonfire or skinny dip, privacy and weather permitting, we enjoy the freedom, empty space and tranquillity. Over time lone walkers like myself have noticed the build up of items the sea has thrown back at the land. We have taken to clearing the shore of all these washed up treasures and hang them up along a farm gate as:
- a reminder of the litter that’s thrown daily into the sea,
- to keep this wonderful secluded area clear of rubbish
- how fortunate all of us around this beautiful country are and that there are places we can go to clear our thoughts, enjoy the scenery and protect the natural beauty and wildlife!
